# Can you Use 20/40 BSS Coexsistance in Japan?

Trying to find out if it is allowed in Japan to allow on the 2.4G radio the use of 20/40 BSS Coexistence in Japan. I have looked around on the internet but I can’t find anything that it’s allowed or if Japan only allows 20Mhz wide channels.

I believe 40 MHz wide networks in the 2.4 GHz band can be deployed in Japan, no problem. Hopefully someone with more expertise can confirm!

Hi @chris.shuckerow,

According to [Juniper Networks](https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/release-independent/junos/topics/reference/specifications/access-point-ax411-country-channel-support.html) 40 MHz is not supported on 2.4G band in Japan.

In Japan, the 20/40 BSS Coexistence feature is subject to the regulations set by the MIC. This feature allows Wi-Fi routers to switch between using a 20 MHz channel width or a 40 MHz channel width to optimize performance and reduce interference in crowded Wi-Fi environments.
